Daring to Dream |
It might seem that this is an easy thing for a writer. That we can turn on a dime and idea jumps out at us. But that's not always the case. It's not that the ideas aren't there. Because they are. It's just that these ideas are planted as seeds in our minds and they need to be cultivated to bare fruit. Just like anything you want to do in your life. It starts out small, in most cases - I know sometimes the ideas are grandiose and we often wonder, "Now what do I do to accomplish this great idea, dream or vision that I have for my future."
The easiest and yet for a lot of people the hardest thing to do with our ideas, dreams and visions is to let go and allow God to work. But one thing to remember is that: "When the Lord All-Powerful makes a plan, no one can stop it." - Isaiah 12:27. And it is from Him that we get our ideas, dreams and visions. So now that that small - or grandiose - seed has been planted now how do you go about watering it, nurturing it, letting it grow and mature, so you can cultivate it? While remembering to let go and allow God to do his work in you.
A really cool thing is that God commands us not to be afraid even if the thing He is putting in your mind seems beyond you to do. "Don't be afraid, because I am your God. I will make you strong and will help you; I will support you with my right hand that saves you. ... I am the Lord you God, who holds your right hand, and I tell you, "Don't be afraid. I will help you." - Isaiah 41:10. I don't know about anyone but myself, but just reading that verse give me strength to look at any God give idea with His eyes. When I do all fear and anxiety washes away from me like it was never there.
I am also excited and thrilled when I start one of the projects God wants me to do, because I know His hand is upon me and I know He will show me what He wants me to do. And this blog project is a prime example. Because after I wrote this first posting, God has revealed versus and bits of devotions he wants me to add to this first blog posting.
The first excerpt I'm going to share is from Max Lucado's small book called, "God's Promises for you." This little book is a compilation of writings from the various books he has written through the years. This one I'm sharing now is from Max's book called, "And the Angels were Silent." :

God also requires us to trust in Him: "Trust the Lord with all your heart, and don't depend on your own understanding. Remember the Lord in all you do, and he will give you success." - Proverbs 3: 5-6. That makes me sit back on my heels when I read that verse. It's not a magic potion or anything like that. But it sure does lighten the load when you realize all you have to do is to allow God to guide you through the awesome plans He has planned for you. No that's not always easy to do, because there are times we think we have all the answers. The truth is we don't. Only God has all the answers to any question, concern, problem, etc. that we may face along the way to success.
Along with letting go, not being afraid and putting our trust in God is that we must follow the plan God has for our ideas, dreams and visions. "You must build ... according to the pattern I will show you." - Exodus 25:9 NLT You may wonder why at first, but once you start allowing God to guide you it will all become crystal clear. And as I read in my devotion for today: "Why? Because you won't have confidence to go to Him in your time of need. Unless you start right, you won't finish right. You say, "But I'm nobody special. Why would God speak (help, guide etc.) someone like me?" If God has called you, and He has, then you're special. His promise is: "If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask God ... and it will be given to him." - James 1:5 NIV."

Through the next few or more weeks I will write insights on this process. I will also find corresponding Bible versus that will help illustrate how it works to let go and let God work in us. Also this first post is also a work in progress. It will also evolve over the next coming weeks as I add Bible versus to it where God instructs us to come to Him with all things and to leave it in His hands.
I hope you all join me on this journey of discovery. This will be a learning experience for all of us. I would also love comments about anything you may think of, since it helps in the learning and growing process.
I'm going to close this revision of the first post with the prayer I got out of Stormie Omartian small book of prayers from her book series called, "Lead Me Holy Spirit.":

Led to See Purpose in God's Call on Your Life
Dear Heavenly Father, Open my eyes to see what Your call is on my life. Open my ears to hear Your voice leading me into it. Prepare and equip me for what You have for me to do. Keep me from doing anything that would violate or compromise that. Help me to never do anything that would hinder all You want to do in and through me. I pray that You, the God of my Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, will give me the spirit of wisdom and revelation so that the eyes of my understanding will be enlightened, and I will always know what is the hope of You calling on my life. (Ephesians 1:17-18) In Jesus blessed name I pray Amen.
